It may be a bit of a long shot, but Caroline could write to Artists &
Illustrators magazine. The email address is [log in to unmask] If I remember
correctly, the editor is called James Hughes, and they have an 'agony aunt'
called Roger Bates. The latter might be a better choice - her queries seem
to me to be fairly close to history of art.
Of course, a suitable arty type at Manchester Uni could also help, and may
