Dear friends,
We would like to invite you to joint the Olympic Studies Forum, a set of
discussion groups based on the Internet related to the Olympics. The Forum
is created with in the framework of the Olympic Studies International
Directory, a joint project of the Centre d’Estudis Olímpics i de l’Esport
(UAB) and the Olympic Museum Lausanne and Studies Centre.
Who is the Forum addressed to?
The Forum aims to provide the ideal framework for communication and
discussion between members of the Olympic studies community (university
professors, journalists, writers, PhD students, Olympic organisers, members
of the Olympic family, etc.)
How is the Forum structured?
It is formed by 5 thematic non-moderated discussions groups. Each group
specialises in one subject area of study. For each group, there is a list of
subscribers and all subscribers receive all of the messages. To add your
contribution to the flow, you send a simple e-mail message to the group
address and it will be automatically sent to all subscribers.
History of the Olympic Games

Social and cultural aspects of Olympism

Discussion on various aspects related to the Olympics such as
education, economics, anthropology, culture, politics, communication, art,
etc.

Economic, touristic, cultural, social, etc. impacts of the
celebration of the Olympic Games on the host city.
Management and organisation within the Olympic Movement

Topics on management of the institutions that are part of the
Olympic Movement, including Organising Committees for the Olympic Games.

How can you contribute to the Forum?
The Forum is open to any contribution considered appropriate for the members
such as information on new research projects, conference announcements,
offers of partnership for research, new publications, texts offered for
comments, information requests, etc.
Non-moderated
There is no control on the content of the messages posted to the Forum.
Members of the list are free to send any information they consider
appropriate, always taking into consideration the subject of the list and
the overall purposes of the Forum. Messages with an authoritarian tone are
discouraged.
Language
English is the primary language of the forum, although messages in French
and Spanish are also accepted.
