I have inadvertently opened an attachment containing a virus - W32/Badtrans-A.
AS I booted up my system zapped off 8 random msgs to unreplied e mail
addressees sitting in my in-box.
Doug Ezzy
Angie Marsh
I.Yeoman
were the recognizable names that it got sent to.
My profuse apologies to you. Do not open attachments in any messages from
me that got sent on
1 May. The random sendings happen after each booting up.
DO NOT , I REPEAT DO NOT OPEN ANY UNEXPLAINED OR WEIRD ATTACHMENTS.
!!!!!!!! This mail got through our usually very efficient virus
protection here at our Surrey departmental server !!!!!!!!
It uses random multi media file attachments - and plenty of the messages
themselves have dubious message content. The original msg I opened
contained the text of a message I sent to a potential course participant
months ago.. it looked very innocent - but some of the messages sent out
randomly by the virus from my machine are very dubious in content and
reflect absolutely any unanswered message sitting in boxes (a good reason
for cleaning up inboxes)
The fix and description of this virus is at www.macafee.com
My machine is now clean.
