Dear Eurotalkers,
I thought you might be interested to hear about a seminar being held by my
Institute. If it could be of interest to others in your organisation, I
would be most grateful if you would pass on the information. The details
are as follows:
Social Inclusion for Young and Older People - A European Perspective.
Tuesday 22nd May 2001, Royal College of Physicians, St Andrews Place,
London.
Organised by the European Institute of Social Services (EISS) this seminar
will feature invaluable information from practitioners concerning the
European Union's policy goals in the area of youth, social inclusion and the
care of older people and how these are expressed through its funding
programmes in the field of social care.
Topics will include the new National Action Plans and the social inclusion
process and a presentation by David Porteous, Lecturer at the University of
Luton on the policy and practice of working with young offenders in Europe.
Jeremy Speakman from RPS Rainer, a leading young peoples charity in the UK,
will present information on working with disadvantaged young people, and
delegates will be given the chance to hear the views of the EU funded
project participants firsthand.
The afternoon session will focus on the issues surrounding care for older
people, and how to get the best of these services from Europe. A full
programme and application form is attached.
The seminar is aimed at practitioners in youth development work, social
services, health care, criminal justice, researchers in social care and
social inclusion, and those working with elderly people.
Attendance at the event entitles those who are not already EISS members, to
a free six-monthly membership period, giving access to the information
service and the benefits of regular funding and news updates, as well as the
quarterly EISS newsletter.
EISS works closely with leading social care organisations and the people
they serve throughout the UK and Europe, enabling them to share innovative
practices and access European funding. EISS is a non-profit making
organisation which aims to enable others to make better use of greater
European integration for the benefit of their clients. Core activities
include research, consultancy, training and a membership and information
scheme.
The cost to EISS members is £75, non members £125. To reserve your place
