Hi
In my earlier posting about the new edited book, 'Disability and the Life
Course: global perspectives', I forgot to include the options for
alternative formats. This is what the publishers say...
Cambridge University Press do not currently produce their books in
electronic format although this is under review. They do, however, licence
the RNIB to produce Braille and large print versions of their books for
people who need them. If instead they receive a direct request from an
individual to scan a print edition to produce an electronic file, Braille or
Moon version, or audio tape, for reasons of personal access, permission is
always granted 'without charge and without delay'.
Any such requests should be addressed to Linda Nicol <[log in to unmask]>
Hope that answers any queries.
PS. It might be helpful if interested readers or learnign support staff
could lobby them (in a positive way) to press ahead with their review of
plans to produce electronic publications of text files as a standard option
in future. We have told them of course, but it's important that they know
there is a real demand out there. :-)
Best Wishes
