I am grateful to John Appleby for raising the following point:
> Why do you apologize for a request that is not technology related? Whereas
> CTI Maths was specifically concerned with computers, LTSN is explicitly
> broader. You would not have funding otherwise!
since it allows me to explain our policy regarding Jiscmail lists. There is no
overall list called ltsn-maths, since we felt that the MATHEDU list at Warwick
already provides a forum for discussions about teaching and learning
undergraduate mathematics. Nor is there one called ltsn-stats, since ALLSTAT
already serves the statistical community. Instead we have retained or set up
several "special interest lists" at jiscmail.
* cti-maths, which has over 250 members, was retained to cover the innovative
use of computers in teaching and learning mathematics
* measure-maths-problem provides a forum to discuss the July 2000 publication
Measuring the Mathematics Problem. Currently there are 33 members
* maths-caa is for the discussion of educational and technical issues relating
to mathematical aspects of computer-aided assessment. Currently there are 46
members
All these lists have archives which can be accessed via the alphabetical index
at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/
We would welcome suggestions for other "special interest" lists. If anyone is
interested, perhaps they would contact us. If even half a dozen people wanted
a list called maths-book-reviews or ltsn-operational-research, we would be
delighted to set something up - Pam
