Without wanting to play devil's advocate or sound like a crass fool -
I just phoned my sister who is a journalist for a major national
paper - she has reported (and will be reporting no doubt) that a
large group of protesters have just started hurling bricks and stones
at the police and corporate targets....stop the violence? I should
coco.
The portrayal of the majority of protesters as peaceful is in most
cases true but want I want to know is how do anti-globalisation
protesters police their own ranks for extremism. From media
reports it would seem that the nature of the protest movement has
polarised from being a number of loose organisation's sponsoring
spontaneous protest into a number of highly professional peaceful
organisation's on one hand and a very small number of highly
organised protesters whose creed is 'by all mean necessary'
including criminal acts. For anti-capitalist movements to be taken
seriously the organisational gaze should be within as well as
without.
Just a question...
