Assistant Archaeological Geophysicist
Salary UKP 11,672 - 15,194 (additional pay award pending)
Archaeological Services WYAS are seeking to appoint an archaeological
geophysicist to be based at their offices in Leeds. The successful candidate
will become a member of a highly experienced team undertaking surveys
throughout the United Kingdom.
You must have an appropriate degree and have attained competence in the use
of geophysical surveying equipment, including (as a minimum) fluxgate
gradiometer and resistivity meters. Familiarity with data processing and
data interpretation would be advantageous. At certain times there may be a
need to complement other aspects of Archaeological Services WYAS and
preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in one or
more of the following areas: archaeological excavation, surveying, building
recording, archaeological illustration and the use of AutoCAD.
We would be willing to provide in-house training to candidates who have a
strong background in other aspects of archaeology but wish to pursue a
career in geophysics.
The initial length of contract we will be able to offer will be determined
by previous experience and will range from a minimum of one month to six
months in the first instance. All positions come under the Local Scheme of
Terms and Conditions of Service of the West Yorkshire Joint Services
Committee, entitling all employees to paid annual leave and sick pay,
following a qualifying period. Applicants must be eligible for UK employment
and must hold a current driving licence.
