medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Jim Bugslag,
Nigel Morgan has discussed different ways in which figures are represented praying in English illuminated manuscripts in a paper presented at the conference "The illuminated Psalter. Content, Function and Decoration" organized by Bamberg University (4.10-6.10. 1999). As far as I know the papers from the conference will be published. Dr. Morgan is the author of Early Gothic Manuscripts (Survey of Manuscripts illuminated in the British Isles, 4, parts 1,2), 1982, 1987 and I do believe he briefly discusses the subject of praying donor figures in these books.
Regards,
Marina Vidas
