1. Rangers Patent Stone Manufactory, Lambeth
William RANGER 1800 - 1863 Baptised Ringmer, Sussex.
First a builder, he became a Civil Engineer , later a
Public Health AND DRAINAGE expert.
He patented an Artificial Stone in 1832.
Used by Sir Charles Barry in Royal College of Surgeons in
Lincolns Inn Fields.
1835 - 1836 there is said to be, in Lambeth;-
'' Rangers Patent Stone Manufactory ''
I am hoping that a Lister can suggest where I can find out more
about that ' works '
2. How does an archaeologist recognise such stone if found during
an excavation ??
