Dear Cecilia,
Could you maybe specify the context, where you found this Joannes referred
to? There are several possible candidates. Tusculum-Lexikon, for instance,
offers:
- John VII. Patriarch of Jerusalem (965-969), author of the earliest Vita
in Greek of Johannes Damascenus (PG 94,429-490)
- John VIII. Patriarch of Jerusalem (early 12th cent.), wrote about the
"azyma" and about the Holy Spirit
- John, Monk in Jerusalem (8th cent.), wrote against the iconoclasts and
against Konstantin V. Kopronymos (PG 96,1347-62; PG 95,309-344)
Also there is a book of prophesies about a third millenium, attributed to a
French templar John of Jerusalem and written, allegedly, between 1117 and
1119, but "discovered" only recently in Russia: I have no idea if it is
authentic or a modern forgery.
Best,
Otfried
