HILT is charged with investigating and reporting on the problem of
cross-searching and browsing by subject between archives, libraries,
museums and heritage, online information services and hubs, government
agencies, and projects and initiatives.
Summary:
- DDC, LSCH and UNESCO are the most used controlled vocabularies amongst
stakeholders.
- 95% of stakeholders said their users require subject access to their
resources.
- 83% of stakeholders said their users would find it useful to be able
to cross-search their catalogues with other catalogues.
- 62% of stakeholders said they would seriously consider adopting a new
high-level terminological schemes if it was widely used by other
services of interest to their users.
