Another scenario:
Resus case. Intubated in A&E or by paramedics. Resus abandoned as failed.
Relatives then arrive and wish to be allowed in to see patient.
1. In process of making scene presentable can the patient be extubated?
2. Can coroner be ticked off by this? Some grapevine told me of such a case
causing a problem because coroner wanted to have post-mortem proof of tube
position.
3. Could the type of case make a difference in this?
4. If this IS NOT allowed, how about removing IV's and other equipment?
5. Grapevine's current pre-emptive "solution" is to extubate and prepare the
patient before certifying him/her dead in the belief that the coroner does
not "own" that patient until certification.
