Craig - agreed that etomidate is usefull in these
situations - used it myself loads of times.
Vassopressors are exactly what you say - a comfort
zone. I tend to assume a lot of things in replying to
these threads, I wouldn't use any IV anaesthetic
induction agent at all without decent IV access and a
free/fast flowing drip. Which kind of brings me back
to my initial first sentence in the posting. I
wouldn't be inclined to do any kind of RSI at scene in
this situation unless I had to - then I would, without
hesitation and using what I'm comfortable with.
I think can of worms is a mild way of putting the
reaction I'm likely to get for mentioning ephedrine in
the same sentence as hypovolaemia.
