medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I thought I had some photos/postcards from this lovely
French village, but no luck. The Michelin Green Guide
mentions nothing about any images of Saint Leonard,
but his tomb is in the south transept of the former
collegiate church so I suspect there's an image to be
had somewhere. Have you tried some French websites?
The guide mentions that he's the patron saint of
prisoners and describes a quaint ceremony held each
year: in November a small wooden fortress (prison) is
trampled down by riders on horesback armed with clubs.
Sorry... I may stumble on an image of him somewhere.
Do you want a description of an image of him or just
the places where same may be found?
