After looking at the TT forum they are having a discussion about Britarch
and on there I found this, which is quite appropriate after the things that
have been said about Tony Robinson.
The list owners comments on using Britarch are as follows:
“As the list is run through a service funded by the higher education
community it is supposed to be 'academic' in tone. I am happy to interpret
that very widely, and the occasional note of humour is very welcome, but I
would be grateful if everyone could try to avoid rather irrelevant messages
on, for example, slugs!”
“For those of you who may have lost sight of the purpose of this list I
thought it might be worth reiterating it:
"BRITARCH is for the circulation of information, questions and general
discussion of issues relating to the archaeology of Britain."
As I've said before, I am happy to interpret this broadly, but personal
abuse will not be tolerated.”
A flame is when you call someone names, are overtly rude, or are blatantly
sarcastic or condescending. It looks immature and unprofessional. Anything
worth saying can, and must, be stated in polite terms. Remember that a large
audience will see your messages, so be careful what you write. Also remember
that people may keep a copy of your messages and your messages may also be
archived at Mailbase. So your words could be stored for a very long time."
