I well remember such an occasion, when Alan Vince picked out something which
had been misidentified in our collections, in the middle of an illuminating
study into the (then very few) post-med potsherd we had. The problem that I
am encountering is that there is a growing attitude that today's knowledge
and standards should have been applied in the past, rather than the
recognition that they have developed from that past.
