Dear Pete
In Denbighshire (Wales) the Conservation Architect has Listed Building
Information as spot data on a very basic GIS system. The whole set up is being
upgraded and incorporated into a new Planning Constraints system based on
Mapinfo. The system is colour coded for grade of building and contains brief
descriptive data. This is not directly incorporated into the SMR, although this
does contain information relating to Listed Buildings although not complete
coverage. As the system is developed the information will become available
within the Local Authority as a read only mapinfo layer and thus accessible to a
wider audience of users. I am at an advantage working closely with the
Conservation Architect for the Authority, one of the advantages of being in a
fairly small local authority. What do Conservation architects in other
authorities do? do they keep their data digitally and in mapped form? Can this
be accessed?
Thanks
Fiona Gale
