In conjunction with the lecture series Resounding Concerns, this workshop,
chaired by PROFESSOR RÜDIGER GÖRNER, will address the intrinsic problems of
writing biographies of composers. It will focus on three examples of the
genre: J.G. Forkel's biography of J.S. Bach, O.E. Deutsch on Schubert, and
Hildesheimer on Mozart. MICHAEL KENNEDY, author of the much-acclaimed
Richard Strauss biography, will give the concluding presentation.
