Hi Tobias,
Berg is also known outside of Sweden. Other test are for balance are:
1. the Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance.
2. the Functional Reach Test
3. the Tinetti Balance Test of the Performance-Orientiented Assessment of
Mobility Problems
4. the Timed "Up and Go" Test
5. the Physical Performance Test.
6. BDL Balansskala (Bäckstrand, Dahl, Liljenås). Ring till stroke-enheten på
UAS i Uppsala.
The last test is really not known outside of Sweden or even outside of
Uppsala.
By the way, balansscales are in my opinion a bit like IQ-tests: culturally
biased. If you can do all kinds of tricks that you maybe learned in your own
culture like in skiing, snowboard, skateboard, dancing, inline skate, etc.
you perform better in these tests. I must admit that I perform lousy in the
last mentioned test. Still a don't fall of my bike or have other problems
with balance.
Good luck,
Isaac

Hi there,
I've been looking for a good test to evaluate small impairments in balance.
I've been using a test called "Berg's Balance Scale" (probably not known
outside Sweden?) but it is more suited for e.g acute stroke patients and
doesn´t register the small differences. I'm working in an outpatient clinic
and the patients I meet are usually too good to be tested with BBS.
What do you use? Any ideas?
