Department of Health Sciences & Clinical Evaluation
LECTURER IN BIOSTATISTICS
We invite applications for this Lectureship within the expanding
Department of Health Sciences and Clinical Evaluation. The Department
began its graduate school in 1995, achieved an RAE grade of 4 in 1996,
and began undergraduate teaching in October 1998 following a successful
bid to HEFCE. Duties of the post include teaching and supervision of
undergraduates and research students, research in collaboration with
cognate departments in this and other universities, and administration.
Candidates should have a doctorate in statistics or equivalent
experience, a minimum of four peer-reviewed publications, research
interests in statistical methodology and the application of statistics
to health, and experience of multi-disciplinary collaboration,
especially in health-related research. Success in winning research
grants is desirable.
Salaries will be within the range for Lecturer Grade A (currently
£18,731 to £23,256 per annum) or Lecturer Grade B (currently £24,227 to

for three years in the first instance. The Department began its
graduate school in 1995, achieved an RAE grade of 4 in 1996, and began
undergraduate teaching in October 1998 following a successful bid to
HEFCE. Duties of the post include teaching and supervision of
undergraduates and research students, research in collaboration with
cognate departments in this and other universities, and administration.
Candidates should have a doctorate or equivalent experience in health
services research, a minimum of four peer-reviewed publications,
research interests in the methodology and application of randomised
trials, and experience of multi-disciplinary collaboration, especially
in health-related research. Success in winning research grants is
desirable.
