Greetings to all members of ESTUARINE-SCIENCE.
The list is now over 2 years old, and we have successfully performed the
transition from the old Mailbase software to the new Listserv system. There
are currently almost 330 members from all over the world.
I'd like to get some international opinions on the subject of "defining
adverse environmental impact", with emphasis on the estuarine environment.
It is of interest to me as I'm preparing a paper for a conference on this
subject, specifically dealing with effects of power plant cooling water
intakes. When is an environmental impact "adverse", and how do we gauge if
it is so? I'm familiar with US and UK legislation on the subject, but I'd be
very interested to hear from list members from other parts of the world (as
well as from the UK and US, of course!), especially with regard to laws
dealing with my particular topic (cooling water intakes).
Thanks in advance.
