=09=09=09 The IJCAI-01 Workshop on=20
Distributed Constraint Reasoning=20
http://liawww.epfl.ch/ijcai2001dcr=20
=09=09=09=09August 4, 2001
Held at the:=20
International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, IJCAI-2001, =20
Seattle, http://www.ijcai-01.org
Distributed Constraint Satisfaction problems arise when=20
pieces of information about variables, constraints or both=20
are relevant to independent but communicating agents.=20
They provide a promising framework to deal with the increasingly=20
diverse range of distributed real world problems emerging from the fast
evolution of communication technologies.=20
The new challenges posed by solving Distributed Constraint=20
Satisfaction Problems are related to meeting privacy requirements,
exploiting opportunities for cooperation, and designing conflict=20
resolution strategies.=20
The workshop addresses modeling, formulation and solution of=20
Distributed Constraint Satisfaction Problems. Scientific issues to be
discussed at the workshop include:=20
unified frameworks for distributed CSP=20
algorithms for solving distributed CSP=20
privacy issues in distributed CSP=20
negotiation among self-interested agents=20
distributed constraint propagation and consistency=20
over-constrained distributed CSP=20
generation and formulation/modeling of distributed CSP=20
phase transition in distributed CSP=20
applications of distributed CSP.=20
Due to the technical advances in multi-agent systems, Distributed CSPs=20
have become a technology that fits many real applications. This
workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers to continue=20
progress towards a common understanding and framework in which the
approach can be developed and brought into practice. The workshop is=20
interesting for people involved in Constraint Satisfaction or Agents
communities.=20

Submissions=20
Submission deadline is March 15, 2001. Submitted papers shall be=20
written in English, up to 15 pages. Papers are expected in Postscript
or PDF format. The submitted papers have to be sent electronically to=20
[log in to unmask] with the subject: "ijcai2001dcr
Submission". We strongly encourage electronic submissions, but if this=20
is impossible, a hard copy may be sent by post to the contact
address below.=20
We encourage the submission of good papers refused at the IJCAI-01=20
technical program. Such submissions are accepted also by the=20
IJCAI-01 Acceptance Notification date: March 19, 2001.
Do not forget to mention your contact address and e-mail or telephone=20
(e.g. in a footnote on the title page).=20

of the IJCAI-2001 conference. However, the number of participants is
limited to a maximum of 40 persons. Authors of (accepted) papers are=20
given priority, then the participants are accepted in the order in
which they have expressed their interest.=20
