As a psychologist working with children and young people who have a
disability (e.g. visual impairment, facial disfigurement, severe learning
difficulties, physical impairment), I have become aware that too many are
struggling to understand their disability, and come to a calmer and more
objective assessment of its impact on their lives. Some have moved from
being "ordinary / okay" to coping with a significant loss of functioning and
with the many differences the disability makes on their life.
I would like ideas and advice on materials and programmes that can be used
to help these young people better cope and more quickly acknowledge their
disability.
Many thanks,
