I am looking for an XML DTD to specify as the syntax for an export file as
part of further development of the PADI Subject Gateway [1]. I want to
enable the database for interoperability, either via protocols such as
Z39.50 or the sharing of data between metadata repositories.
The CIMI DTD required by the Z39.50 Bath Profile for cross-domain
conformance [2] seems to be the best option at the moment but it does not
support qualified DC or even the encoding of schemes. Neither does the
working draft "Using Dublin Core in XML" [3] and I can't use this in its
current form in any case for the non-digital resources described in PADI, as
a URI is required.
How is work going on a DC qualified DTD (or schema) I wonder? Or should I be
looking at RDF?
I'm sending this to DC-General rather than DC-Architecture because I
wouldn't mind a general update on progress in this area.
