Are you a member of a team or project group? Would you like to be able to
influence your colleagues and improve the team's effectiveness even if you
aren't in direct authority? Then why not attend:
Facilitation skills
A one day Library Association workshop on 6 March,in London
Many library/information services are moving away from more 'traditional'
working patterns towards a range of working practices. Some of these, for
example, may be familiar:
* temporary structures, such as project teams
* flatter structures, with greater emphasis on team work
* working groups from different disciplines, as with converged
services, or different organisations
* groups for training & developing others
*
* In these circumstances - where groups may have no previous
experience of working together as a 'team', or where perhaps no one
individual has direct authority over those from other organisations or
disciplines - achieving successful outcomes often depends on effective
facilitation.
*
* Benefits from attending
* This workshop will help participants develop their facilitation
skills as part of managing and leading groups, to achieve successful
outcomes, gain commitment from others, move towards consensus as part of
achieving objectives, remove tension to 'unblock' groups, solve problems or
mediate during a conflict.
*
* By the end of the event participants will have:
* explored the role of facilitator
* identified and practised skills needed by an expert facilitator
* applied knowledge of group processes and group development to
facilitation
* discovered how to use facilitation skills to achieve results
Special notes
The workshop will be highly participative and draw on the experience of all
participants.
Who will benefit from attending?
Anyone who wants to improve their skills in developing the effectiveness of
working groups or teams such as members of a team, those working as part of
a temporary project team or those responsible for facilitating consultative
groups in relation to Best Value, to name but a few..
