Dear John,
Good point there. I believe as Physiotherapists, our knowledge on pathology
is a lot weaker, and it is because of this lack of knowledge that a lot of
the medical profession still regard us as technicians rather than
clinicians. This is another important aspect in getting scientific
evidence... to put Physiotherapy up there as scientifically and clinically
sound. I think this is why Dr Siff emphasis evidence most of the time.
Yes, a lot of the stuff they teach us at Uni is "non-scientific based," but
I think it gives us as students a start in our thinking process. As I have
often repeated many time, Uni is only a place to learn the basics, and it is
up to us to move forward in our knowledge. Yes, a lot of it is hypothesis,
but it is a start.
