My understanding of HELLP syndrome is that it is a severe form of eclampsia-
dangerously high blood pressure combined with liver failure and another
condition which I cannot remember. I am a pediatric physical therapist and
work with children whose mothers have delivered premature babies as a
result. I am not a doctor or an expert on HELLP syndrome, but it is my
understanding an emergency C-section must be performed before the acute
condition progresses to threaten the lives of the baby and the mother.
