The expectation of consistency is the major reason why bibliographical
citations avoid academic degrees, titles of nobility, religious order
affiliations, etc. If you offer these for some authors on a list, then a
reader will expect that you offer them for all. Omissions slight all
authors whose similar qualifiers and affiliations are not presented. But
since the majority of authors do not provide such information consistently
on their title pages or title lines, it becomes a virtually impossible
research task to supply it in any bibliography that goes beyond a handful
of names.
