Call for Papers
Race, Gender, and Orientation:
Challenges for Dialogue; Opportunities for Growth
An interdisciplinary symposium examining historical and contemporary
issues of discrimination, particularly discrimination based on orientation
and its relationship to gender and race discrimination, within both
academic and church settings and creating support systems to encourage and
celebrate diversity within these communities.
Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 23 and 24 March 2001
Organizers: The Campus Ministry Center, Lutheran Campus Ministry, The
Western College Program, and Miami University Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual
Alliance.
Keynote Speakers:
Prof. Kathy Rudy (Women's Studies, Duke University)
Keith Boykin (Executive Director of the National Black Gay and Lesbian
Leadership Forum).
PLEASE SUBMIT ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS TO:

Papers and workshops on any topic related to gender, race, or orientation
and issues of marginality within academic and church communities are
welcomed. Papers should not exceed 20 minutes reading time (approximately
3100 words) The completed paper, as it will be presented, should be sent
to the address above by 15 March 2001 for moderators to review. Workshop
and panel proposals should include a list of presenters and clearly stated
goals for the session.
Abstracts and proposals should be submitted no later than 15 February.
Abstracts should include the title of the paper, the author's name, panel
title (if applicable), address, telephone and e-mail address, as well as
the title of the paper and a single-spaced abstract not to exceed 400
words. Abstracts may be submitted on paper or electronically to
