Dear Doctissimi,
my father - a retired teacher - is collecting the inscriptions of some
paintings of the "Spätnazarener" Carl Müller, dated and signed 1882 in
the St. Remigius-Church in Bonn. One cycle shows the infance of Christ,
on the other wall the one of Mary. There is one painting with "St. Anna
teaching Mary", the latin distichon runs as follows:
CONSPICUOS PRAESTANT ALIOS BENEFACTA PARENTUM /
TU CONTRA NATAE ... ITATE NITES.
Is it known to anyone? Could it be medieval? Any hint welcome.
Best regards
