Four PhD positions available in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry.
The Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Group at the University of
Nottingham has vacancies for four postgraduate students with interests in
any of the following areas.
New algorithms for quantum chemical calculations, including
- new tools for interpretation of high-level calculations
- new exchange-correlation density functionals.
Biological applications of computational chemistry, including
- molecular dynamics simulations of protein folding
- protein structure prediction
- computer-aided drug design.
The theory of Van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonding, including
- developing quantum chemical methods for studying weak interactions
- computer simulation of ionic solids and ions in solution
- statistical thermodynamics of model systems.
Candidates should have a first or 2.1 degree in a relevant scientific subject.
