Performance Measurement of Information Skills education:
Follow-up workshops
The SCONUL Task Force and the Advisory Committee on Performance Indicators
welcome participation from colleagues involved in planning and delivering
information skills education in assisting us in further developing ideas
relating to performance indicators for this strategically important part of
our services in HE libraries. Some useful work has been done during 2001 in
relation to identifying the important elements of information skills work.
To take the ideas further, we would like to involve colleagues in workshops
which can test and validate the work done already, and, more importantly,
take the ideas a stage further to design a framework for measurement for the
future assessment of this aspect of provision.
The background to this can be found in the account by Stephen Town in the
SCONUL Newsletter No. 22 Spring 2001 (pp 21-24), and through reference to
the ARL web site, which reports a paper delivered by Stephen to the 4th
International Conference on Performance Indicators in Libraries and
Information Units in Pittsburgh, USA, in August 2001.
