To people looking for GIS specialist.

Mid July this year I will be moving to Europe,
initially staying in Vienna, Austria. I am a holder of
an Italian EU passport.

I am seeking GIS employment, in any country where my
skills can be utilised.

My GIS experience spans over seven years, covering all
disciplines, from data capture, map production, data
analysis, data processing, data management, and
systems development.

Projects I have been involved in overs the last four
years, have encompassed GIS system design,
development, and integration. The following is a brief
outline of the kind of tasks I have performed.

System design and development:
=======================
Setting up corporate GIS data browsing and editing
systems for GIS and non-GIS specialists. Data browsing
and inquiry systems include generic menu based systems
on UNIX ARCINFO work station, automatic map production
systems, both on UNIX and intranet / extranet systems
which users can submit requests for corporate map
products which is then processed by a map service.

The latest project has been using ESRI ArcIMS, to
produce a corporate browsing and query systems to be
used by all staff. This has involved creating a
corporate look and feel, and including new
functionality such as dynamic adding and removal data
layers, and direct editing of Oracle Spatial data.

Editing systems include data editing from ARCINFO
libraries and data stored in Oracle as SDE binary
format. Enhancements also include developing
validation systems to ensure the edited data complies
to specified business rules.

Data storage and management projects include moving
data from flat files to Oracle database to create a
spatial warehouse which can be easily integrated with
non spatial data for production of reports and map
products.

Some of the key technologies I have experience with
are,

GIS
===
Arc/Info, ArcIMS, ArcView, Oracle Spatial, Spatial

(FME), MapInfo

Image Processing
================

Internet/Web Management

Netscape, Internet Explorer, iPlanet Web Server, MS
Personal Web Server

Other
=====
Exceed, Citirx, MS Word, Excel, Email, Power Point,
Paint Shop Pro, Java Development Kit

Environments
============
UNIX (Common Desk Environment, Open Windows), Windows
95, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Mac OS

Languages (Used in GIS, Web development, Database,
UNIX, etc),
==============================================================
Arc Macro Language (AML), ArcXML (AXL), Avenue,
Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL, HyperText
Markup Language (HTML), Dynamic HTML (DHTML),
Javascript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Extensible
Markup Language (XML), Vector Markup Language (VML),
Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), Java Server
Pages (JSP), Java, awk, UNIX Shell Scripting

Even though most I my GIS experience mainly has been
with ESRI products, I am interested in working on
projects which may not use such products, as I am
always keen to learn new technologies, and to expand
to my existing knowledge.

I am interested in any job that may be contract or
permanent, and I am willing to move to any country.

I also speak Italian at a good level, given exposure
to the language I will be able to develop it to a
working level, I am also keen to learn a new language.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree, with honours in
Geography (Remote Sensing), with minors in Computer
Science, Mathematics, and Administration.

If anyone is interested in utilising my skills please
email me at [log in to unmask], and I will send you
my resume, which outlines in further detail my skills
and employment history.

If you know of any organisation which may be looking
for a GIS specialist, please forward on this email.

Regards

Marco Giana.
