Advertisement for a new post at the Museum of Classical Archaeology,
Cambridge:
Part-time Education Development Officer in the Faculty of Classics (Museum
of Classical Archaeology), University of Cambridge.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has recently awarded the Museum of Classical
Archaeology a grant to further Museum outreach activities. The Museum is
seeking a graduate with training in the humanities and extensive experience
of teaching in museums or in a school environment to fill this important
and exciting role. The main object of the post is to design and deliver an
education programme appropriate for the Museum's three target audiences:
school children, families, and adults. The successful applicant will be
expected to contribute to the Museum's other core activities and to assist
in the planning and evaluation of the project. It is expected that the post
will begin on 1 January 2002.
The post requires excellent communication skills, proven organizational
skills, and the ability to draft teaching materials and publicity
literature. Enthusiasm for classical art is essential and basic knowledge
in this field is desirable. The successful applicant should be
self-motivated, with the ability to work flexibly in a small team. Basic
ICT skills are essential. The appointment will be for three years,
half-time. The salary offered will be on the scale of £16,775 to £18,731,
pro rata, and is pensionable.
