I can say that we provide digital data, most usually in the form of MapInfo Tables, both to clients and SMRs/Heritage depts, when this is most convenient or specifically requested. This can take the form of individual site plans, thematic surveys, or synthesised information. Not only does it make providing core data to SMRs/clients much easier, it obviously assists longer term project development, data synthesis and report production.

Can I ask if it is common for external contractors to supply GIS data to
SMRs? What sort of data is being supplied? Individual site surveys? Thematic
digitisation of particular types of site? Its an area I hadn't considered...
