Dear all,
the deadline for submitting papers (1503), tutorials (1503), and
workshops (1502) to the Joint 8th European Software Engineering
Conference (ESEC) and 9th ACM SIGSOFT International Symposium on the
Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE-9) is approaching.
Please consider, if this an opprotunity for you and/or members of your
team!
Enclosed I am sending you a short and a long version of the
call-for-contributions. Please distribute it as widely as possible.
Best regards

Conference Outline
******************
ESEC/FSE 2001 will bring together researchers and practitioners of software
engineering techniques to exchange the latest research results and experience
reports related to both traditional and emerging fields of software
engineering.
In addition to the technical program, ESEC/FSE 2001 will include a program
of tutorials and workshops on current topics in software engineering.
Technical Papers
****************
The Program Committee invites authors to submit research or experience
papers for publication and presentation at the conference. We encourage
submissions in any field of software engineering, including, but not
limited to:
- Aspect-Oriented Software Engineering
- Component-Based Software Engineering
- Distributed, Web-Based and Internet-Scale Software Engineering
- Empirical Studies of Software Methods and Tools
- Formal Methods in Software Engineering
- Requirements Engineering
- Software Analysis and Model Checking
- Software Architectures
- Software Configuration Management
- Software Engineering and Security
- Software Engineering Tools and Environments
- Software Integration Engineering
- Software Metrics
- Software Performance Engineering
- Software Process Models and Software Process Technology
- Software Reengineering and Software Reuse
- Software Safety
- Software Specification
- Software Testing
The proceedings will be published by ACM press. Submissions have to conform
to the ACM proceedings format (template on the conference website) and must
not exceed 10 pages including figures, bibliography and appendices.
Submissions will be reviewed by the program committee for originality,
significance, soundness and quality of presentation. Research papers must
clearly present an original contribution to the state-of-the-art.
Theoretical papers should show how their results relate to software
engineering practice. Experience papers must clearly present "lessons
learned" that will be
of interest and benefit to a broad audience.
Authors must submit their papers in electronic form to the Program Chair
by March 15, 2001 including
1. Title and Abstract (max 200 words)
2. Authors´ names and affiliation
3. Contact Author with postal, email and telephone/fax coordinates.
A web submission form will be available from Jan. 2, 2001.

Tutorials
*********
We invite proposals for full-day (6-hour) or half-day
(3-hour) tutorials on topics related to ESEC/FSE 2001.
Tutorials may take a variety of forms, and cover practical problems, surveys,
and theoretical issues. Participants in the tutorials will include software
practitioners, managers, teachers, researchers and students.
Tutorial proposals will be evaluated for their presumed benefit to
prospective participants to ESEC/FSE 2001, and their relevance to the
tutorial program as a whole.
Submissions must not exceed 10 pages. A proposal should include a
description of the theme of the tutorial and a justification of its
relevance for ESEC/FSE 2001. It should also include information about the
duration, the scope, the key learning objectives for the participants, the
intended audience and the required background.
Tutorial proposals have to be submitted to the Tutorial
Chair via email (ASCII text or PDF) by March 15, 2001.
