Relentless bombing has failed to effect a collapse of the Taliban. The
ineffectiveness of Washington's friends, the Northern Alliance forces, despite lots
of imperialist propaganda that had been suggesting otherwise. The restrictions
imposed on Yankee imperialism in the degree to which they can collaborate with the
ragtag Northern Alliance forces if they wish to retain some measure of support from
Pakistan. The execution by Taliban of Abdul Haq the Yankee puppet. The second bombing
of UN premises in Afghanistan and the recent bombing of a village behind the Northern
Alliance lines. Mainstream media and public opinion seems to be turning too. There
are mass demonstrations all around the world against the bombing.
It would seem that Yankee imperialism lacks the ability to deploy ground forces.
What is the point in having the world's most powerful army if you cannot use them.
Just imagine Yankee Bush is afraid to use his marvellous ground forces with all kinds
of resources to back them against the forces of a very damaged and backward country.
So they just pound and pound with bombs killing civilians -men, women and children.
This can hardly be called a war. They keep on telling us that the ground troops are
being or have been mobilised. But still no ground troops. The one off very limited
deployment of special units on the ground was an abject failure and led to the
downing of maybe as many as two helicopters. Bush administration called the Taliban
liars saying that no helicopter had been downed. Later the administration was forced
to admit that a helicopter within Afghanistan had lost some body parts but managed to
escape. There is evidence to show that Washington had been consistently less than
honest. The Yankees desperately need to find some old fools to fight for them as a
proxy army. There has been an abject failure by Blair and Bush to bring about a
cessation in the war there and bring about a settlement.
Washington is scared that if they deploy ground forces body bags will be going home.
This means that opposition to the war will mount. In other words Washington's hands
are tied because of their fear of the working class. They fear mounting opposition to
the war. This is an indication as to how weak Yankee imperialism and as to why it
must go to war while not going to war. Washington are victims of their own hubris.
They had been able to get away with their attack on Iraq and Yugoslavia principally
through an air strategy. They thought it would work this time round. This has been
the first of these so called wars (hardly wars more forms of state terror) to have
gone so badly wrong so soon. If the Soviet Union, China or Iran smell blood they will
be in for the kill. They will support the Taliban as a means of sucking the US into a
war of attrition that will weaken the US globally.
The danger now is that the American may engage in reckless exercises to gain the
advantage. This could mean the use of tactical nuclear strikes. When Washington is
weak it is, in a sense, at its most dangerous. This anthrax business is merely a
device to maintain the hysteria that the terrorist attack on New York and Washington
provoked with the help of the ruling class and its media. Both the anthrax and the
airplane attack may have been allowed happen by the CIA to create the conditions that
facilitate an attack on Afghanistan and the world's working class.
