While I can see some rationale for stopping and restarting Blackboard
regularly, I cannot see why the computer needs to be rebooted. Now
maybe there are some issues with Microsoft products that make this
necessary, but with Solaris it does not appear to be.
Incidentally, as someone else said, we do stop Blackboard every night
to do a backup of the entire directory, then restart it. The server,
however, has not been rebooted for several months.
