The RAF Museum's archive collection includes the papers of a wide range of
servicemen and women, from the Boer War to the Gulf War, and an extensive
range of records from firms in the aircraft industry. A vacancy exists for a
qualified archivist to join an enthusiastic team cataloguing material in the
collection and answering enquires from staff, visitors and external
enquirers.
The successful candidate will also be involved in implementing new Records
Management systems, and some time will be spent on secondment to the team
preparing a computerised catalogue of all the Museum's holdings.
Applicants should be qualified archivists or records managers, and IT
literacy is essential. Knowledge of the history of the Royal Air Force is
desirable, and an interest in electronic records management would be an
advantage.
