Dear Wiggies,
I would like to draw your attention to a few important
matters arising from the WIGS Committee meeting on 19th May.
First, we are trying to plan ahead and decide on a venue
for, at least, the 2003 conference, but ideally also
further ahead. Anyone considering putting in a bid should
remember that 2003 will be a 3-day open conference, while
2004 and 2005 are likely to be one-day members-only events.
We do have one serious offer for 2003 (Bath), but none as
yet for subsequent years. Would you please all give this
some thought and send any suggestions to Gisela in the
first instance ([log in to unmask]). Final decisions
will be taken at the business meeting at the Leeds
conference in November this year.
Second, the Business Meeting at the conference in Leeds will have
the difficult task of appointing a successor for Gisela as WIGS Chair.
If anyone has any ideas for nominations, please could they let Gisela know.
Finally, you will have noticed that the Newsletter and Directory
have not appeared yet this year. The Committee has decided that
it is helpful to discuss the Newsletter at the May meeting, and
therefore distribute it later than previously, i.e. in June. We hope that
this doesn't cause too many problems. If you would like to make
any changes to your Directory entry, please email Birgit Roeder
([log in to unmask]) as soon as possible, and definitely before Friday
8th June.
Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to seeing lots
of you at the conference in November. Details will be posted on the Web
very soon, and will appear in the Newsletter by the end of June.
All the best
Charlotte
