Dear WIGS colleagues,
After the recent WIF/WIGS/WISPS conference at UWE-Bristol (12 May 2001) on
WOMEN AND POWER IN THE 21ST CENTURY, can I forward below some follow-up
from Cécile Velu, the conference organiser:
>Dear colleagues in WIF/WIGS/WISPS,
First, many thanks for your kind messages/cards following the
conference. It was a great pleasure to have you all here. I
enjoyed the day too. Thank you to those of you who gave
a paper and to all the participants for your contribution.
I hope this event can mark the beginning of a successful
venture for our three associations.
Here is the outcome of the conf.:
As agreed at the end of the workshop:
1. Am about to open a Website where we can all feed in info
regarding research projects, joint applications for
funding, future academic cooperation, addresses, relevant
events, etc... your suggestions are welcome. Could you pls
let me have some details, i.e. a short personal profile,
your research interests, info regarding cooperation with
other colleagues working in the same field, info regarding
possible sources of external funding , (European?), any
current info regarding Women's Studies in Europe, links with
sister WIF/WISPS/WIGS associations in other countries we
could contact etc...Pls, do this by e-mail to make it
easier for me to feed in the Website. (preferably Word 97)
2. Plan for a similar conf. for WIF/WISPS/WIGS and possibly
for women working in Italian, Russian Studies etc... at the
Institute of Romance Studies, London, for May 2003.
Organisers; Cécile Velu and Mercedes Carbayo-Abengozar.
More on this in due time.
n.b. If you know some colleagues working in Italian/Russian
Studies who are interested, could you pls let me have their
names etc.. so that I can contact them
.. If you can spare the time, I would be grateful if you
could fill in the questionnaire individually and send it
back to me. Pls find enclosed an electronic copy in the
attachment below. It might make things easier for you. If
you can, pls e-mail a copy of the questio. to yr female
colleagues in yr department. Although they might not all be
members of one of our associations, it would be interesting
to have their opinion on the general issues raised in parts
3,4,&6.
3. Publication of conf. proceedings: some suggestions have
been made. Thanks for that. Will keep you posted.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes,
Dr.Cécile Velu
