Forwarded for Richard Everett. He mentions two files, which are temporarily
available at:
http://www.directlearn.co.uk/downloads/comptable1.doc
and
http://www.directlearn.co.uk/downloads/comptable2.doc
When I get chance, I'll put these on the VLE focus area at ferl, together
with a section on using comparison tables. In the meantime, they are
downloadable from the above addresses.
STARTS
I heavily concur with Geoff about the usefulness of comparison tables as a
means to select VLEs. However they are useful as PART of a strategy for
selection. Guidance generally on this is contained in the briefing paper at
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/mle/reps/briefings/bp2.html The first of the attached
comparison tables originated from the Western Colleges Consortium (which I
was Project Manager for) over 2 years ago so is slightly out of date and the
second was sent to me from Darren Tysoe at Northampton College who is
bravely willing to share his with you all.
Again I emphasise that if this is your only mechanism for selecting the VLE
you will be seriously undermining your chances of implementing a successful
MLE.
