INSTITUTE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF UNIVERSITY LEARNING
UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIPS IN LEARNING AND TEACHING IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Salary £20,066 - 38,603 (age-linked: automatic progression)
The University is seeking to appoint two University Lecturers in Learning
and Teaching in Higher Education, one of whom will lead educational
development work.
The University of Oxford aims to achieve excellence in every area of
teaching and research, maintaining and developing its historical position as
a world-class university. The Institute for the Advancement of University
Learning was founded in 2000 to support these aims, through conducting
research into higher education, collaborating in educational development
initiatives with academic staff, and offering development opportunities to
staff working in any capacity in the University.
The two Lecturerships afford an outstanding opportunity to contribute to
educational development and research in a vibrant intellectual environment.
We are seeking two energetic, imaginative and resilient people to join a
committed group of academics and development specialists.
The balance of duties in each of the Lecturerships will depend upon the
expertise of the successful candidates. One Lecturer will be appointed as
Head of Educational Development, and we are seeking an experienced
educational/academic development specialist to fulfil this role. Candidates
for the second Lecturership may currently be academics with a demonstrated
interest in the development of learning and teaching, or educational
development specialists with some experience of university teaching. Either
of the two Lecturers may be appointed to make a substantial contribution to
the development of graduate provision, working in collaboration with the
office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic). For this role we are seeking
someone with a strong interest in graduate education.
Both Lecturers will contribute to the Postgraduate Diploma in Learning and
Teaching in Higher Education, a part-time course for the University’s own
academic staff; organise seminars, short courses and other forums for
educational debate; pursue a range of educational development initiatives;
and conduct research into higher education.
Both appointments are for a period of five years, with the possibility of
renewal. The closing date for applications is Friday 7 December and
interviews will be held on the 19 and/or 20 December. For further
particulars, including the names of those with whom the posts may be
discussed informally and details of how to apply, please contact Mrs Luvena
Wilson at the Institute for the Advancement of University Learning,
Littlegate House, 16/17 St Ebbe’s Street, Oxford, OX1 1PT (tel: 01865 286803
or e-mail: [log in to unmask]).
The Institute is also currently advertising for a Professional Development
Adviser to work primarily with the University’s contract research staff.
Details of this post may be obtained from the same source.
The University is an equal opportunities employer.
