My apologies that this is strictly not an RTT issue but some subscribers
may hvae knowledge of this subject.
I am looking a bus door safety. New South Wales requires buses that
carry school children to have door sensors which prevent the bus from
moving and, optionally, reopen the door if an object down to the size of
a 20mm is placed in the door opening. Systems have been developed which
meet this requirement.
A related issue is the closing force applied to a trapped person (in one
gruesome accident a driver was killed when caught by the neck). A limit
of 150N is specified but no effective equipment to measure this force
(down to a 20mm gap) has been found. Any tips on sources of equipment
would be appreciated.
The other issue is that drivers sometimes forgot to apply the parking
brake when they leave the bus. The door interlock prevents the bus
moving but, on some occasions, the driver has lent through a window to
close the door and the bus has runaway. This is really an issue of
ensuring that the parking brake is always applied when the driver leave
his seat. An alarm that sounds if the seat is vacated but the parkikng
brake is not applied could be one solution. Any suggestions?
regards
