The international Society for Concrete Pavements is pleased to announce that
the 7th International Conference on Concrete pavements will be held in
Orlando, Florida from September 9 to 13, 2001. This conference will carry on
the traditions of the first six international conferences previously
organized by Purdue University. The sixth conference was held in
Indianapolis, Indiana, USA on November 18-21, 1997. As with the previous
international conferences, the focus of the seventh conference will be to
present information on new technologies related to design, construction, and
rehabilitation of various types of concrete pavements. Specifically, the
theme of the conference is use of concrete to develop long lasting pavement
solutions for the 21st century.
As part of the conference, it is planned to have a 1-day of
workshops/technical sessions devoted to "Formulating the Long Range Research
Needs for PCC Pavements." This 1-day activity will be coordinated with
Innovative Pavement Research Foundation (IPRF), FHWA, and the Transportation
Research Board. Also, a strong exhibitor program is planned to showcase new
products and services.
SCOPE
The conference is targeted at pavement and geotechnical engineering
professionals who are involved in various aspects of concrete pavement
design, construction, testing/evaluation and rehabilitation. These
professionals include federal/state/municipal engineers, consulting
engineers, contractors, materials suppliers, and academia.
The conference program will consist of presentations and discussions on new
developments related to concrete pavement technology. The emphasis will be on
implementable products and techniques that result in long lasting new and
rehabilitated concrete pavements and on use of concrete to rehabilitate other
types of pavements.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
The conference topics will include the following:
1. High performance concrete pavements
2. Mechanistic design procedures for new and rehabilitated concrete pavements
3. PCC pavement construction issues
4. PCC pavement materials
5. PCC pavement evaluation
6. PCC pavement rehabilitation
7. Roller compacted concrete pavements
8. Whitetopping
9. Prestressed concrete pavements
10. Performance related specification and warranty for PCC pavements
11. Fast track paving
12. Concrete pavements for high volume urban highways
13. Concrete pavements for low volume rural highways
14. Early age properties of PCC pavements
15. Laboratory testing of concrete for pavement applications
16. Accelerated load testing of concrete pavements
Selection of papers will be based on near-term applicability to practice. As
such, the conference is expected to be of significant benefit to practicing
engineers as well as research engineers. The presentations will comprise the
most comprehensive coverage on concrete pavement technology as we enter the
new century of progress.
PRELIMINARY PROGRAM

Thursday, September 13, 2001
Technical Site Visits (Optional)
In addition to the technical program, a spouse program will also be planned.
CONFERENCE HOTEL
The conference will be held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Secluded,
but in close proximity to most Orlando area attractions, this 15-acre resort
is themed after Northern Mexico and the American Southwest. It is filled
with courtyards, fountains, lush landscaping, a lake, swimming pools, and a
Mayan pyramid.
The Orlando area offers some of the best attractions for visitors including
the world famous Disney's Magic Kingdom Park, the new Animal Kingdom Park,
and Epcot Center.
PAPER SUBMISSION & PEER REVIEW
The preliminary selection of papers will be made on the basis of abstracts
(250 to 300 words). The abstract must include a clear definition of the
objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is
new, and present sufficient details regarding results and implementation of
the results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial
nature nor can it have been previously published.
Each selected paper will be peer reviewed by members of the Technical Program
Subcommittee of the Conference Steering Committee. Final selection will be
made after the completed papers have been reviewed.
All papers selected for presentation at the conference and a limited number
of other exceptionally well written papers will be distributed to conference
attendees in a bound proceedings and a CD.
All primary authors will need to pre-register for their papers to be included
in the printed proceedings and in the final program.
