According to the Demograhic Data Sheet produced by the Population Reference
Bureau in Washington DC the population density of Israel is 791 per square
mile as compared with 1365 per square mile for the 'Palestinian Territory'.
Israel has a GNI comparable with that of the countries of Western Europe.
Palestine does not have an estimate of GNI. The PRB sheet gives the capital
of Israel as Jerusalem, but does not name any capital for Palestine or even
give an estimate of the urban population (that is given for every other
country in the world). Such imbalances in the information available
indicates the significance of the raid on the Palestine Central Bureau of
Statistics.
Israel has a birth rate of 22 per 1000, Palestine a birth rate of 42 per
1000. The PRB estimates that the population of the 'Palestinian Territory'
will exceed that of Israel before 2050. The allegation that Israel might
provoke an atomic war to defend the current imbalance is alarming to say the
least.
