Didn't he also (wearing another of his hats) write a severely scholarly
exegesis of _Finnegans Wake_? Or am I becoming tangled as usual?
Actually, there +is+ a story circulating in the Ghetto that after VV
returned to writing after his twelve or so years flirt with Scientology, he
was hauled before a closed-door committee and asked to Justify Himself,
before they'd give him an Emeritus Hugo.
The Ghetto being quite seriously anti-Scientology, despite LRon's Very First
Publication on "Dianetics" being within the covers of (as it was then)
Astounding (later to become Analog) sometime in the sixties.
But then, John W. Campbell, jr. had more flappy rodents in his cranial area
than Derrida and Lacan put together, and is prolly now supping on deepfried
Mars Bars with Elvis in the sky.
