Apologies for this interruption but a great many thanks for the below
reference to Bergson. I have had some discussion with Deleuzian types who
suggest and imply that gay and lesbian rights politics is wrong and a waste
of time because the struggle against homophobia is about identity. Including
the liberal humanist understanding of homophobia then implied, I suspect this
is an elisive reading of D&G. But then, I am not a philosopher and certainly
no bloody good at writing about philosophy. I am only a poor learning poet
who has no shame in saying I learn my theory in the poverty of the streets.
In poverty there is always possibility.
Please don't let me distract from your most useful comments.
Chris Jones.
(PS. Deleuzians remind me of that old Trotskyite joke: put three trots in one
room and what do you get? Three factions. Put three Deleuzians in one room
and what do you get? Three different philosophies.)
