It is surprising to me how much I appreciate the "Cat Poems" - I mean that I
would tend to prefer the "regular" kind, for reasons ranging from snobbery
to possibly something else, I can't think what - but there is something I
like very much about the quality of attention in the Cat & Kitten poems, of
which I must now have read more than I ever would have in normal
circumstances. Something about the kinds of looking and being looked back at
that seem to be happening in them. I really can't put my finger on it. That
would be the poetry, then.
